Lost Pets

We at the Lowndes County Animal Shelter want to assist you in your efforts to find your missing pet!

LCAS is located at 337 Gil Harbin Industrial Boulevard, Valdosta, GA 31601. We are open for reclaims Monday & Saturday 12:00pm to 3:00pm and Tuesday through Friday 12:00pm to 4:00pm. Reclaim fees apply for initial impound, lack of current rabies vaccination, and boarding. All stray animals are held for a mandatory stray hold of 5 business days to allow owners a chance to reclaim.

The pets listed below were found as strays and are currently in our care. If you believe you see your missing pet, please come by during reclaim hours.

If you do not see your pet above, we encourage you to come in and walk through the stray holding rooms and fill out a lost pet report. While we aim to update these photos every day, we may not have time on particularly busy days. To ensure you are able to reclaim your pet as soon as possible, we recommend that you come in at least every other day to check if your animal has come in.

If we do not have your pet, here are some tips that you may find helpful in your search:

  • Bring us a picture! We see so many animals, it is much easier to identify your pet if we have a photo.
  • Post pictures on LOST/FOUND Pets of Valdosta on Facebook
  • If your pet is wearing a rabies tag, contact your veterinarian to ensure your information is correct and let them know your pet is missing.
  • If your pet is microchipped, contact the microchip company to alert them of your missing pet and ensure they have your correct contact information.
  • Find and take a picture of your pet and start a door-to-door search in your area.
  • For cats, drive around after dark with a flashlight looking under parked cars, bushes, porches, etc.

Don't give up! Many pets have been found 2 and 3 months later. With today's technology, some pets are found years after and sometimes hundreds or even thousands of miles away from where they were lost.
