FOUND A PET?
We at the Lowndes County Animal Shelter want to assist you in your efforts to reunite a found pet with its owner. Please be advised that we only take animals found in Lowndes County.
If you would like Animal Control to pick up the animal, please call 229-671-2760, option 3.
If you would like to bring the pet to the shelter, we are located at 337 Gil Harbin Industrial Boulevard, Valdosta, GA 31601. Our intake hours are Monday through Saturday 12:00pm to 3:00pm. Please bring your ID and let us know where you found the animal at the time of intake. We will hold the animal for 5 business days to give the owner a chance to reclaim. After the 5 business days, we will evaluate the animal to determine the best outcome for the pet.
If you would like to hold the animal at home for its stray hold
- First, please report the animal to us. This report can be submitted in person, or by phone at 229-671-2760, option 2.
- Have the animal scanned for a chip at the shelter or a local veterinarian's office. If a chip is found, the shelter or veterinary staff will try to make contact with the owner.
- Make flyers and post on social media pages, such as LOST/FOUND Pets of Valdosta on Facebook.
- Actively search for the pet's owner for 30 days. After 30 days, if no owner comes forward, the animal will be considered yours.
